Old Church Creamery is a family-owned business located in Mechanicsville, Virginia.  We (Catherine and Keith Long) first started farming with just one cow on Valentine’s Day 2008. Since that time, our herd has grown to nearly 60 Jersey cows. Now we focus solely on the Creamery side of the business and are sourcing our milk from grass-fed Jersey cows on two family farms.

We believe in environmentally sustainable farming,. By participating regularly in the Virginia Forage and Grassland Council and Acres U.S.A. conferences held throughout the United States, we keep ourselves up-to-date with best practices in sustainable farming.

We are inspired by others who paved the way for us.

First, we stand in admiration of Jerry Brunetti of Agri-Dynamics. His research into ecologically sound farming practices got our attention. However, it was his personal testimony of triumph over non-Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer through relying on dairy products from grass-fed cows that caused us to switch from conventional farming to environmental farming.

Also, we greatly appreciate Joel Salatin of Polyface Farm. He generously and selflessly has shared over thirty years of experience in grass-based livestock farming to make our transition to grass-based dairying easier.

We have been touched by the lives of so many others who through their research and life experience cause us to dig deeper into organic, bio-dynamic, and holistic farming practices. Our goal is to create dairy products that are life-giving, sustainable, and pure.
